Connecticut Business Hall Of Fame To Induct Two Leaders & Three Organizations At Upcoming Third Annual Induction Ceremony On Friday, April 3, 2009 In Hartford, CT

(West Hartford, CT) -- The Connecticut Business Hall Of Fame today announced the business leaders and organizations to be inducted next week as the "Class of 2008". This year's inductees include Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford Springs; Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Rocky Hill; Alcoa Howmet, Winsted; Gloria McAdam, president & CEO, Foodshare, Bloomfield; and Jim Barnes, president & CEO, OAKLEAF Waste & Recycling, East Hartford.

"This year, there was a real emphasis on the inductees' role in their community and around the state. From a major manufacturer that has over half of its workforce involved with community support activities to one of the state's leading organizations serving to ensure a competitive business environment, I am very proud to announce our induction 'Class of 2008'," said Ron Dresner, director, Connecticut Business Hall Of Fame.

Over 80 nominations were received during the past three months for consideration for this year's awards ceremony. Some of the past inductees were SUBWAY, Milford; CRN International, Hamden; Chris Campbell, Palace Production Center, South Norwalk; and Herb Barker, Barker Specialty Company, Cheshire.

"Stafford Motor Speedway is honored to be recognized by the Connecticut Business Hall of Fame as a leader in the motorsports industry," said Lisa Arute, administrative vice president, Stafford Motor Speedway.

"We are pleased to be inducted into the Connecticut Business Hall of Fame’s “Class of 2008”, particularly since we're in the business of helping other businesses be competitive," said Robert Santy, CERC president & CEO. "We owe this honor to the extraordinary CERC staff who provide research, marketing and economic development services to make Connecticut a more competitive economy."

Event: CTBHOF "Class of 2008" Induction Ceremony & Networking Event.
When: Friday, April 3, 2009.
Time: 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (doors open at 6:45 am).
Where: Connecticut Laborers' Council Offices, 475 Ledyard Street, Hartford, Connecticut 06114.

Featured speakers at the induction event include Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz; Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal; and the "Class of 2008".

Guest emcees for the event are Ron Dresner, Dennis PR Group; Laurie O'Neil, Innovative Financial Services; Jeff Pitchell, Musician; Robert Davidson, RP Web Design; Harlan Levy, Journal Inquirer; Mary Ellen Dombrowski, Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce; and Charles LeConche, Connecticut Laborers.
